The 90 Proof
Method
Why the 90 Proof Method Exists
My name is Isaac Kent, and I’m a colt starter, Farrier and an educator behind Advance Horsemanship and the 90 Proof Method.
I didn’t create this program because I wanted a new name or a trend. I created it because, over years of starting and restarting horses, I kept seeing the same pattern repeat itself: good horses struggling—not because they were incapable, but because their foundations were rushed, unclear, or built without regard for how they process pressure.
I’ve worked with young colts, auction horses with unknown histories, anxious and reactive horses, and horses that had been pushed too far, too fast. Some had papers, some didn’t. What they all had in common was this—their success depended less on their breeding and more on how clearly they were taught to understand pressure, release, and expectation.
The 90 Proof Method is not for everyone, but for true horsemen that want partnership, not obedience.
Why I Built a Different Approach
Too much of modern horsemanship is split between two extremes:
force on one end, and vague feel with no structure on the other.
I wanted a method that was:
Strong enough to hold up under pressure
Clear enough for horses to understand
Flexible enough to adapt to each individual horse
The 90 Proof Method is built on the belief that a horse’s nervous system matters just as much as its physical ability. When training ignores that, problems show up later—under saddle, in new environments, or when expectations increase.
Rather than forcing horses through milestones, this method focuses on building understanding first—so confidence replaces resistance, and try replaces fear.
Why I Share It
I created the 90 Proof Method to give horse owners, riders, and trainers a framework that respects the horse while still producing real, dependable results.
Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.
